About Atle Rovik


Atle has been exceedingly interested in music and sound since being a little boy, as he would wake up before the others in the house - to play drums on the family's kitchen chairs! Then came music kindergarten, and "radio programs" made on the cassette player in the bedroom. Afterwards came the cornet in the school band in Sandnes where he grew up, and guitar lessons at music school. In his teenage years he finally got to play what he really wanted to play - drums! Beside playing drums in tensing-choirs and local bands, he was also involved with PA sound and local radio.

In 1994 Atle Rovik moved to Oslo, where he studied for 2 years at Norsk Lydskole (now NISS) and finished with the title of sound engineer. After graduation and until the start of Steps Music in 2000, he earned himself extensive experience with a large network and updated knowledge through working with television sound and as a freelance sound engineer in various studios.

Music production


Steps Music can offer a complete package, with the help of composing, producing, arranging and recording. The goal is to create productions in which good music is the focus and where you, as the artist, is having fun along the way. We also make designs, audio logos, advertising and music and post production for film and television, as well as all forms of voice recording. The company is owned and operated by Atle Rovik and was previously called Babysteps Productions.

Recording studio


The studio is located in a studio complex with a total of 4800 sq. feet with 3 recording rooms, the largest being 500 sq. feet. Here are the opportunities for drum recording and acoustic recording with high sound quality at reasonable prices. You can do live recording of the band in the same room or in separate rooms. The control room is equipped with an SSL AWS 900 + SE mixer with full automation and total recall. This analog mixer is based on SSLs legendary 9000 series and is used by renowned audio engineers, producers and artists around the world, such as Alicia Keys, Trevor Horn and the Rolling Stones. Along with the right "boxes" and the right acoustics, it is possible for mixes of very high quality, with warm, great analog sound.
